After several weeks away from racing, Bereczki Dávid is set to return to the track as he continues his pursuit of the SM Junior European Championship title. The talented Hungarian rider, competing with race number 121, made an exceptionally promising start to the 2026 season, crossing the finish line first in every SM Junior European Championship race he entered.
However, a serious leg injury sustained during a preparatory race brought his winning streak to a halt and forced him to miss the MBH Investment Bank S1GP Hungarian Grand Prix, held in Visonta in September. The weeks following the injury were dedicated to rehabilitation, regular physiotherapy, and regaining the physical fitness required to return to racing.
His recovery has made it possible for Dávid to compete once again at the final race weekend of the season. The young rider will make his comeback on October 10–11 in Mettet, Belgium, where he remains in contention for the European Championship title. If successful, he could return as European Champion to the S1GP Hungarian Grand Prix, taking place on September 3–5, 2027, for which fans can currently purchase a weekend pass for the price of a Saturday day ticket.
The European Championship Title Is Still Within Reach
The 2026 SM Junior European Championship season concludes at the Mettet circuit in Belgium, where Bereczki Dávid will once again line up on the starting grid. Having won every race he has entered, he remains in contention for the European Championship title despite missing several rounds, making the season finale particularly significant for him.
Dávid’s goal is to regain the form he showed before his injury, pick up where he left off, and finish the season with the best possible result. The Belgian round will also serve as the first major test under competitive racing conditions of the rehabilitation work he has undertaken over the past few weeks.
The S1GP Hungarian Grand Prix Returns in 2027
The stakes of the race also extend to whether Bereczki Dávid will return to the starting grid as European Champion at the 2027 S1GP Hungarian Grand Prix, taking place from September 3–5, 2027.
The three-day event will once again feature races with the international supermoto field, spectacular motorsport shows, and a variety of activities for spectators. The organizers aim to provide Hungarian riders and local motorsport fans with another outstanding opportunity to come together next year.
