The circuit located at the foot of the Mátra Mountains hosted a round of the Supermoto World Championship for the first time last year. That event, however, was held over two days and featured three categories. This year, alongside the S1GP, S2 European Championship and SM Junior European Championship classes already seen at Visonta in 2025, the S4 category has also been added to the programme.
In the premier S1GP World Championship class, a total of 24 riders feature on the entry list, headed by four-time World Champion Marc-Reiner Schmidt of Germany, who also claimed victory at Visonta last year. Among them is Balázs Surányi, the sole Hungarian representative in the S1GP field.
The S2 European Championship will be the only category without a home rider among its 15 entrants. Hungarian fans will nevertheless have plenty of local competitors to support, with Noel Turi racing in the SM Junior European Championship and Gergely Kardos and Zoltán Kovács competing in S4.
Dávid Bereczki, who won the SM Junior race at Visonta last year and currently leads the championship standings, suffered an accident during a round of the Austrian Supermoto Championship and sustained a fractured tibia. As a result, he will unfortunately be unable to take part in this year’s Hungarian round.
The sporting programme gets underway on Friday with Free Practice sessions for all categories. Saturday will see the qualifying sessions take place, together with one race each for the S1GP and S4 classes. On Sunday, racing will take centre stage across all categories. Before the afternoon races, aerobatic World Champion Péter Besenyei will perform an air display above the circuit.
Alongside the racing action, the organisers have prepared a wide range of supporting activities for spectators. The programme will include stunt and drift shows, while on Saturday evening visitors will have the opportunity to drive rental karts around the circuit’s asphalt section. Free motorcycle activities for children, motorcycle experience rides and helicopter sightseeing flights will also be available to members of the public.
In cooperation with the event’s logistics partner, K&V Logistic Solutions, the organisers will operate a free shuttle bus service between Gyöngyös railway station and the circuit on both Saturday and Sunday. The timetable has been coordinated with the Budapest–Gyöngyös train service departing from Keleti railway station. On both days, the shuttle will leave Gyöngyös railway station for the Visonta circuit at 10:00, with the return service departing from the circuit at approximately 18:40.
The FIM Supermoto World Championship uniquely combines the characteristics of road racing and off-road motorcycle racing. Within a single lap, riders must adapt to dramatically different levels of grip and riding surfaces, demanding the highest standards of both physical conditioning and technical riding ability.
