The reigning S1GP champion changes teams, but will face a strong opponent in 2025

Four-time world champion Marc-Reiner Schmidt could face a strong challenge from Italian champion Elia Sammartin.

The S1GP Supermoto World Championship, which will also visit Black Star Speedway Visonta on July 12-13, 2025, has seen a shake-up in the top flight: the defending four-time world champion Marc-Reiner Schmidt has changed teams and one of his young challengers, the Italian champion and 3rd place finisher in last year’s World Championship, Elia Sammartin, will also be competing in a returning team.

2024 was a year full of success for Team Undici, a participant in the S1GP Supermoto World Championship. Their results in the FIM SuperMoto of Nations were particularly noteworthy, as they took the top step of the podium twice – once in the Junior, once in the overall standings.

The 2025 season promises to be truly exciting, as the four-time S1GP world champion Marc-Reiner Schmidt will also be competing in the colors of Team Undici, so the team can prepare with full force to achieve the best results.

Schmidt will be joined by Czech Jan Ulman, who has all the potential to develop into a major figure on the global Supermoto scene. Team Undici will also field the extremely young Italian Supermoto talent Leonardo Lapadula, who is the 2024 Italian SM Junior champion and will compete against the best in the recently announced S2 European Championship.

Last year’s 3rd place team is attacking again with a Honda

Last year’s S1GP Supermoto World Championship 3rd place finisher, the talented Elia Sammartin, has also changed teams, but the Italian rider will continue to race with Honda, with the returning Team BRT. The transfer was also facilitated by Honda RedMoto Director Egidio Motta and Sales Manager Michele Berera.

With Sammartin, Team BRT returns to the World Championship as a main player, and their goal can be no other than to attack the top, that is, to achieve the world championship title.

“Thanks to the support of Honda RedMoto, we can return to the highest level of the international scene. A special thanks to Egidio Motta for the trust he has placed in our team, allowing us to officially represent the most prestigious Japanese brand in this field,” said Fabio Mandelli, BRT Team Manager.

Egidio Motta, Honda Red Moto Managing Director, added: “With Team BRT, we can give all the tools to a rider like Elia, who deserves the full attention of a professional and prepared team like the one led by Fabio Mandelli. Elia is preparing for his second consecutive season on Honda, and for this reason our expectations are really high!”

The S1GP Supermoto World Championship season will start on 29-30 March 2025 in Spain, with the field members starting on 12-13 July 2025 at the Black Star Speedway Visonta racetrack. As part of the program, competitors from the S2 European Championship, the S4 European Cup and the SM Junior category will also visit Hungary. Tickets are now available on S1GP.hu and in the Eventim network.
